At Tuesday night's year-end meeting for the Razzy's Junior C Hockey League, Hockey PEI Junior Council Chair, Clifford Affleck, announced that the Tignish Perry's Construction Aces have won the right to host the 2012 Maritime-Hockey North Junior C Championships. The event will take place on April 11th to 14th, 2012. The Aces hosted the event in 2005 in the old Tignish Centennial Arena, and PEI last hosted it in 2008 when the North River Island Excavators Flames welcomed teams to the APM Centre.
The Aces, as well as the PEI league champions and the winners from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Hockey-North will take part in the five-team event.
The league was also informed at Tuesday's meeting that there is interest for a possible expansion team in West Prince for 2011-12. The Aces are currently the only team in Prince County.
The league has also decided to re-visit the topic of players wearing visors instead of full cages for next season. No decision has been made on it, but it will be an agenda item for consideration when the league meets in the fall. PEI continues to be the only Junior C league in the Maritimes to where full sheilds.
