The Sherwood Falcons have been granted a 1-year leave of absence by the Razzy's Junior C Hockey League. A representative from the team sited small numbers at their pre-season tryouts as the reason for the decision. There are currently 3 other junior hockey teams in the Charlottetown area, which has proven to be all that the region can support.
The Falcons have been one of the most successful teams in the league over the last decade. They appeared in the finals for 6-straight seasons from 2002-2007, winning four island championships during that span.
The league will operate with 7 teams this season and will utilize a 28-game schedule. Almost all games will be played on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The season is set to open up the weekend of October 23rd to 25th with 6 games, starting with the Red Devils hosting the Flyers on Friday night.
