Belfast Returns; Shootouts Added |

The Belfast Rec Centre will have Junior Hockey for the first time since 2005-06. The Belfast Surge was approved as an expansion team by the Razzy's Junior C Hockey League at its initial meeting on Tuesday night. With Holland College moving to the IJHL, the league is currently 8-teams strong with the Surge joining Tyne Valley, Pownal, Tignish, Charlottetown, Morell, North River, and South Side.
The league also announced that it will adopt shootouts in the event of a tie at the end of overtime during the regular season.
The 28-game regular season will begin on October 19th, with the playoffs set to begin on February 8th. The official schedule will be released in early October. The winner of the league will go on to represent the province at the 2013 Maritime-Hockey North Junior C Championships in Hampton, NB on April 3 - 7th.
