Players of the Week
 
Each week the league selects an offensive and defensive player of the week.  Anyone can nominate a player for an award by providing a reason why they think the player is deserving of the award (in 50 words or less).  Winners receive a gift certificate compliments of Razzy's Road House.  Nominations are accepted until the Wednesday following each week of play (Wed - Tue), with the winners announced on this page on Thursdays.
 
 


March 6th - 12th

OFFENSIVE Player of the Week - BRANDON FORSYTHE - Aces

Brandon got his legs back after being sidelined till Christmas and having work commitments after Christmas that caused him to miss a lot of the season.  He has been big in the first three games of the finals scoring big goals when the team needed them.  As a big body in front of the net he is able to pounce on loose pucks and the Tignish Perry's Construction Aces are happy to have him back every night.

DEFENSIVE Player of the Week - COLIN GAUDETTE - Aces

Colin played both road games for the Aces and even though they lost game one of the finals, he gave them a chance to mount a comeback and they fell just short.  In game three, Colin really stepped up and played well, making a lot of key saves to keep the game close before the Aces took over and shut down the Metros for the win.

February 27th - March 5th

OFFENSIVE Player of the Week - ALEX MacEACHERN - Metros

The Metros' rookie centered the third line and had a great season.  He had 29 points in 22 games and continued his good play in the first round of the playoffs with seven points (tied for 3rd) and four goals (tied for 1st).  He had a great game six with three points against the tough Summerside Cover All Construction Crunch.  He was key on the power-play where he picked up two points.

DEFENSIVE Player of the Week - JAMES DUFFY - Metros

The Metros' veteran goalie has been playing great in his final year with the Metros.  In game six he made big saves to keep the Metros in the game, especially in the third period where the Crunch were pressing hard.  James helped the Metros win the series against the Crunch whose strong play made it a tremendous series.

February 20th - 26th

OFFENSIVE Player of the Week - JAMES BIRT - Crunch

James had a huge game in game five for the Summerside Cover All Construction Crunch to help them stave off elimination and force game six.  James set up three goals during the Crunch's dominant second period in which they scored five unanswered goals to take over the game.  He also added an insurance goal in the third to nail down the victory.

DEFENSIVE Player of the Week - MCGUIRE GALLANT - Aces

McGuire came in relief of goaltending partner, Koby Bridges, who went down to an injury in game three and completed the shutout of the Flames.  He then stopped 47 of 50 shots in game five to bring the Tignish Perry's Construction Aces to within a win of clinching the series.

February 13th - 19th

OFFENSIVE Player of the Week - NICK BROWN - Metros

The Metros' rookie had a great first season, finishing fifth in the scoring race with 40 points.  He continues to play great hockey for the Metros with two good games in the semi-finals against the Summerside Cover All Construction Crunch.  In game two he had the winning goal and in game three he set up the winning goal to help Sherwood earn a stranglehold on the series.

DEFENSIVE Player of the Week - JAXON LAMONT - Crunch

Jaxon has been a huge addition to the Crunch roster this season and has come up big in the playoffs.  The high-scoring Metros have had their hands full with him and although he took two losses this week he stopped an incredible 76 shots and kept the game in doubt until the very end on both nights.

February 6th - 12th

OFFENSIVE Player of the Week - CURKLAN FRASER - Aces

Curklan had an amazing game to close out the regular season, scoring five goals, including the winner in a 10-7 win over Summerside Cover All Construction Crunch.  He added an assist in game one of Tignish' victory over North River on Tuesday night as well  Curklan.  He only played nine regular season games, but put up an amazing 29 points over those contests.

DEFENSIVE Player of the Week - KOBY BRIDGES - Aces

Koby was solid in the Tignish Perry's Construction Aces' 5-1 win to open up their semi-final series with Tignish.  He stopped 25 shots for the win.  He also entered the Summerside game in relief after the Crunch opened up a 3-0 first-period lead and earned the victory for the Aces on Saturday night.

January 30th - February 5th

OFFENSIVE Player of the Week - SHAWN CORNEY - Metros

Shawn had a great eight-point week to help the Metros clinch first place.  He has been on a great scoring pace with 25 points since the Christmas break to take over first place in the scoring race.  He has been a team leader and great offensive threat.

DEFENSIVE Player of the Week - PATRICK KENNY - Metros

Patrick has been playing great defense for the Metros.  The team's most sportsmanlike player is the only player in the league with no penalty minutes (for players with at least 6 games played).  Last year he had only a total of four penalty minutes (including playoffs).  He has been a key player on the blueline..

January 23rd - 29th

OFFENSIVE Player of the Week - MARC CUMMISKEY - Metros

Marc had a great week with six points to lead the Metros and gain three more points against the tough Tignish Perry's Construction Aces.  Marc has been on a great scoring pace with 11 points in the last three games to take third in the scoring race.

DEFENSIVE Player of the Week - ETHAN LAROCQUE - Metros

Ethan is playing great hockey at both ends of the ice.  He is killing penalties and playing great defense.  In the Metros' key victory against the Aces, he had to play on the blueline at times due to the Metros being short on defensemen.  He scored the sixth and seventh goal for the Metros to secure their win on Monday night.

January 16th - 22nd

OFFENSIVE Player of the Week - TANNER POWER - Flames

Tanner had a huge 4-point night as the North River Flames beat the first-place Sherwood Metros for the first time this season in a dramatic 6-5 overtime win.  Tanner set up Ethan MacFadyen's overtime winner in the first minute of the extra frame.  Tanner moved from the Metros to the Flames this season for his overage year.

DEFENSIVE Player of the Week - WILL LEVASSEUR - Metros

Will had a great weekend for the Metros.  He is a power forward that plays a great two-way game and this week he contributed both offensively and defensively for his team as they picked up three important points as the Metros move closer to clinching the top seed in the playoffs.

January 9th - 15th

OFFENSIVE Player of the Week - SHAWN CORNEY - Metros

Shawn had a great week with eight points to lead the Metros to two more wins this week.  Shawn is a key part of the Metros offense, especially on the power-play.  He is playing his best hockey at the right time of the year.

The Metros' captain is playing great hockey as of late.  He is helping the team offensively from the blueline and this week was a big part in the Metros two wins..

January 2nd - 8th

OFFENSIVE Player of the Week - REMI ARSENAULT - Crunch

Remi had a huge five-goal performance in a big win for Summerside over the South Side MacDonald's Excavation / EF MacPhee Lynx on Saturday night after scoring a goal in a tight loss to Tignish Perry's Construction Aces on Friday.  The Crunch sniper has moved into a tie for fourth in goals in the league after the weekend.

DEFENSIVE Player of the Week - BRAYDEN HANDRAHAN - Aces

Brayden has been playing great hockey lately.  He has been a key player while playing defence, but also put up eight points on offence this weekend in wins versus Summerside Cover All Construction Crunch and the North River Flames.  He'll look to keep his hot streak going with two more games this upcoming weekend.

December 26th - January 1st

OFFENSIVE Player of the Week - ETHAN LAROCQUE - Metros

Ethan has been a great addition to the Metros' roster.  This week he continued his good playing and produced offensively to help the Metros win against the South Side MacDonald's Excavation / EF MacPhee Lynx after trailing 2-0 with 7 minutes left in the game.  He had a goal and two assists as the Metros stormed back from behind to steal the win.

DEFENSIVE Player of the Week - RYAN CLORY - Flames

Ryan had a strong game as the North River Flames pulled into sole possession of third place after a 5-2 win over the Summerside Cover All Construction Crunch on Saturday night at APM Centre.  He turned aside 21 of 23 shots in the win.  He has earned four of the Flames' six wins and has now surpassed his wins total from a year ago.

December 19th - 25th

OFFENSIVE Player of the Week - DAWSON SELLICK - Aces

Dawson had another strong week with seven points in two games.  He put up six in his team's win over South Side MacDonald's Excavation / EF MacPhee Lynx at home on Friday night and added another in a losing effort the following night.  Dawson has taken over top spot in the league scoring race with 37 points in 16 games.

DEFENSIVE Player of the Week - LOGAN TOOLE - Metros

The veteran captain of the Metros has had another strong year.  He has been key on the blueline shutting down the opposing team and providing some offence, especially on the power-play.  In the Metros' only game this week he picked up two goals and two assists in a 7-3 win over Summerside Cover All Construction Crunch.

December 12th - 18th

OFFENSIVE Player of the Week - CONNOR ANDREWS - Flames

Connor had a fantastic performance on Saturday night to get the Flames a big win at home against Summerside.  He scored a hat-trick, including the winner, and added three assists in the win.  The hat-trick was his second of the season and he leads North River in scoring with 19 points in 13 games played.

DEFENSIVE Player of the Week - KOBY BRIDGES - Aces

Koby only let one get by him, leading the Tignish Perry's Construction Aces to a big win over Summerside.  Koby only joined the Aces in November and is 4-1 and is second in the league in GAA.  Koby is in his first season with the Aces after playing with South Side in 2017-18.

December 5th - 11th

OFFENSIVE Player of the Week - TYSON BECKINGHAM - Lynx

The second-year South Side MacDonald's Excavation / EF MacPhee Lynx' forward is taking big strides scoring two goals and four assists in two games on the weekend.  Tyson is scoring at a very healthy pace halfway through the season and is by far the Lynx' leading scorer.

DEFENSIVE Player of the Week - DANIEL COLLISTER - Lynx

Daniel had a good weekend offensively with three goals, but his week was more memorable on the defensive side.  He played goal in relief of the team's starting goaltender and played more than a full period while stopping 12 shots in his goaltending debut.

November 28th - December 4th

OFFENSIVE Player of the Week - BRANDON HASTINGS - Crunch

Brandon had a four-point night for the Summerside Cover All Construction Crunch in a big 8-6 win on Friday night over North River.  He followed it up with another goal in a tough loss on Monday at Sherwood.  Brandon has only played in eight games so far, but has racked up 11 points in the process.

DEFENSIVE Player of the Week - JAMES DUFFY - Metros

The Metros' veteran goalie had his best outing of the year on Monday against Summerside.  He faced 17 shots in the first period and didn't allow a goal.  The game could've had a much different outcome if it wasn't for his strong play early.

November 21st - 27th

OFFENSIVE Player of the Week - DAWSON SELLICK- Aces

Dawson scored a hat-trick to lead the Tignish Perry's Construction Aces to a big home win on Friday night against the Summerside Cover All Construction Crunch.  Dawson has had another strong start to the season with 21 points in his first 11 games which puts him third in the league in scoring.

DEFENSIVE Player of the Week - ETHAN LAROQUE - Metros

Ethan has been a great addition to the Metros' roster.  He has taken on the role of defensive forward, killing penalties and even playing defense when the team is short on the back end.  This week, Ethan helped out killing penalties and even had four assists including assists on the two game winning goals.

November 14th - 20th

OFFENSIVE Player of the Week - CONNOR ANDREWS - Flames

Connor scored a natural hat-trick over a five minute period in the opening period which was all the scoring the Flames needed as they held on for a 3-2 road victory in Crapaud on Saturday night over the South Side MacDonald's Excavation / EF MacPhee Lynx.  Connor is in his third year in the league and is looking to hit his offensive stride that got him 42 points last season for the Flames.

DEFENSIVE Player of the Week - SUMNER DOCHERTY - Metros

Sumner continues to play well between the pipes with a shutout win over the Metros' rivals, the Tignish Perry's Construction Aces on Monday night.  He continues to lead the league in goaltending stats with a 1.38 GAA and .957 save percentage.

November 7th - 13th

OFFENSIVE Player of the Week: NICK BROWN - Metros

The rookie player has been playing well for the Metros. This week he had four points to help them with two more wins. He played strong on the road against the Tignish Perry's Construction Aces. He is the league leader in assists and is tied for fourth in the league in points.

Connor stopped 29 shots on a busy road win in Summerside against the Cover All Construction Crunch. The Flames rookie picked up his first win and his team's first win on the season on a weekend where his team picked up 3 of a possible 4 points.

OFFENSIVE Player of the Week: SHAWN CORNEY - Metros
 
Shawn had a great week with five points to lead the Metros and take the lead in the scoring race.  He is a key part of the offense for the Metros and is in his last year of junior hockey.  His team looks for his leadership to succeed.

DEFENSIVE Player of the Week: SUMNER DOCHERTY - Metros
 
The Metros' goalie is off to a great start this year by shutting down opposing teams.  He is yet to lose a game this season and this week he only allowed one goal against the North River Flames.  He leads the league in save percentage (.964) and GAA (1.14).  He has been a great addition to the Metros.

October 24th - 30th
 
 
OFFENSIVE Player of the Week: DAWSON SELLICK - Aces
 
Dawson had a big weekend offensively, scoring points while being shuffled around on different lines.  He is once again leading the Tignish Perry's Construction Aces in scoring and is motivated to have a successful season.

DEFENSIVE Player of the Week: McGUIRE GALLANT - Aces
 
The Aces' new rookie goaltender came up with two wins on the weekend.  He made 48 saves over two games as the Aces moved into second place.  McGuire has played in all five of the Aces games to start the season.

October 17th - 23rd
 
OFFENSIVE Player of the Week: SHAWN CORNEY - Metros
 
Shawn had a great week with five points to lead the Metros with two more wins.  Shawn is a key offensive player and team leader.  He is in his last year of junior hockey and the Metros are looking for team leadership from him.

DEFENSIVE Player of the Week: CAELAN FERGUSON - Lynx
 
Caelan had a great weekend, giving the South Side MacDonald's Excavation / EF MacPhee Lynx a couple of close wins in their first two games of the season.  Caelan is in his first full season in the Razzy's Junior Hockey League.  He played just four games with the Lynx in his first year of junior eligibility.

October 10th - 16th
 
OFFENSIVE Player of the Week: MICHAEL JENKINS - Metros
 
The Metros rookie player had a great week to start the season.  He had the winning goal in the Metros first game of the year and a hat-trick in the second game.  He helped the Metros earn four points in their opening weekend.

DEFENSIVE Player of the Week: JAMES DUFFY - Metros
 
James stopped 31 of 34 shots to hold the Summerside Cover All Construction Crunch to just three goals a couple nights after they scored 10 against the Tignish Perry's Construction Aces.  It was James' first game of the season.
